Assisted Feeding

This is an article recently posted by Ron Tremper

Geckos that have recently been moved to a new cage or environment may go off food for a extended period of time. You can assist them to get them back on feed.

1) Kill several Mealworms by pinching their heads. This will kill them or at least get them to quit moving. Use standard 1in Mealworms.  Hold one meal worm in your fingers.

2) Hold your gecko in the other hand, nose up and tap the eye and/or jaw line to get your gecko to open its mouth.

3) Place the dead or un-moving Mealworm into your geckos mouth when it is open. Keep your geckos mouth facing upward at all times. If your gecko spits out the Mealworm repeat until it swallows it.

4) Repeat this process for several days making sure your gecko gets about 3 worms per day.  By the third day your gecko should start eating on its own

Note, this does not always work, but does most of the time. Follow the steps closely for best results.
